With more than a decade in creation, Kevin Durante showcases his brand new three-track EP Meld on the renewed Amtrac‘s imprint OPENERS.
Having debuted on the renewed label back in 2017, Durante has a long list of outstanding releases; from OPENERS to Anjunadeep and Rose Avenue, he has talked about himself when it comes to chill house and deep music. Now, with this new installment, Durante wants to push the boundaries again with an eclectic dreamy, and cinematic collection.
Kicking off with Gather, the tune starts with rolling and hypnotic percussive rhythm backed with a wide and clean bassline. The dreamy and cinematic harmonies rapidly kick in delivering a feeling of mystery and magic. The hypnotic arrangements evolve into mesmeric beats and cryptic swings for a feeling halfway between the occult and the divine.
Ceres, on the other way, injects some really incredible feeling-good vibes adding catchy and sparkling arpeggios. With a bubbling and smooth bassline, the delicate piano lines on the breakdown seamlessly flow through the record. The track is all about chill and relax, with a spin on non-stop movement around it.
Last but not least, Ivory goes melodic all the way with an intimate piano line backed up with soothing shakers and comforting beats. The progressions on the synth elements end up into a plucked arpeggio ending the EP in a pleasing way.
Durante is a skilled musician who excels at creating emotional builds and soothing grooves. His progressive arrangements have caught the attention of some of the scene’s biggest tastemakers with swirling melodies and dark, haunting bass lines.
