Jordanian duo Fairplay‘s second release on Phonique‘s brand-new label Zatar Music is a stunning, deep, melodic house track that draws inspiration from their native culture and features vocals from Sahrawi vocalist Mariem Hassan.

Jordanian alternative group Fairplay expertly weaves musical layers, giving nomadic music a contemporary viewpoint. Their music is distinguished by an eclectic, introspective, and surprising approach. Releasing on labels like Kindisch, Stil Vor Talent, and Bar 25 their approach favors organic sounds, often focussing on the trippy and the obscure, to create deeply layered, spellbinding productions.

Faisal and Fuad, who had previously studied in the UK and USA and had first met in their native Jordan, started off by marketing their Kollective Music parties, which featured electronic luminaries like Phonique, DJ T., Subb-An, and Mihai Popoviciu. The success of these events encouraged them to join Fairplay and begin DJing and producing as a group.

From the very start, the music they made had always been deep, unpredictable, and evocative, with Fairplay often incorporating Middle Eastern and Arabic sounds and instruments into their productions. With the publication of Latlal, Fairplay now embark on a new phase in their musical history.

They draw inspiration from their diverse ethnic heritage and blend their distinctive hypnotic melodies with a moving vocal sample to create a piece that both symbolizes their message of staying loyal to one’s roots and is a thoroughly contemporary example of melodic house.

Longtime partners Anturage & Alexey Union rework Latal with its own distinct flavor. With the help of Hassan’s vocal sample, which has uplifting qualities, they gradually add layers of percussion and synthesizers to produce a crisp, progressive cut that gradually heightens the tension.

The award-winning producer Phonique’s new label, Zatar Music, debuted in July 2022 with a brand-new remix of Feel What You Want, one of his most well-known songs, by Ukraine’s rising sensation Korolova.
