Forester All I Need

Forester drops new ‘All I Need’ via Kygo’s Palm Tree Records

The Los Angeles-based indie electronic duo Forester (also known as David Parris and Xander Carlson) follow up their spring 2022 album Watercolor with the new song “All I Need” on Kygo’s Palm Tree Records.

In stark contrast to other Forester releases, “All I Need” combines the duo’s distinctive organic electronic production with filtered house and an addictive chorus sample. It is unquestionably a midsummer hit. The accompanying music video shows the duo performing on an idyllic beach, and as the daylight turns into a picturesque sunset, the video follows a couple through a trippy and passionate dance party in the sand as the song’s lyrics “You Are All I Need” echo behind them.

’All I Need’ is an ode to those that stay close through thick and thin. Life on the road has been filled with highs and lows for us, making the role of the people we love and trust in our lives even more important. Everyone has those people, and in making this song we wanted to show them a little appreciation. We also noticed while performing live on the road that we formed an incredible connection with people when playing some of our more upbeat songs. We wanted to take this energy from the live setting and recapture it in the studio. It’s already become a favorite for those who have heard it live and we’re excited to share this with all of our fans. – Forester

The release of “All I Need” follows the announcement of their “Moonlight Tour,” which will take Forester’s live performance to important venues around the nation, including the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, among others.

About the artist: Forester

Longtime friends Parris and Carlson created the Forester project in 2019 and saw quick success with their debut track “Spark,” which amassed more than 5.8 million Spotify streams. Parris and Carlson were inspired by nature and the natural beauty in the planet. The song, which lived up to its moniker, was a lucky start that got the attention of an A&R at Kygo’s Palm Tree Records, where Forester joined in 2020.

At 8,000 feet, in Carlson’s family cabin in Mammoth Lakes, California, on the eastern slope of the enormous Sierra Nevada mountain range, the boys continued to perfect the Forester sound.

In terms of music, Forester found a dreamy, achingly emotive, and totally sophisticated middle ground between the electronic music of Avicii and Bon Iver, who emphasize melody. Bon Iver is a hero to both Parris and Carlson. Their 2020 sophomore LP, A Range Of Light, was created from the songs they recorded in the highlands. Three albums down, Forester has now amassed over 75 million streams.

When Forester performs live and in the wilderness, they are at their best. They performed their debut live performance in June 2021 as Kygo’s opening act at Colorado’s magnificent Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The duo was also given the opportunity to open for the Norwegian powerhouse for his major summer 2022 stadium performances in Mexico City and Oslo, which would have brought them in front of tens of thousands of spectators. Forester performed their hypnotic live act at Outside Lands 2022 in San Francisco, as well as a DJ set later the evening. Carlson sings and performs synths, and Parris plays guitar.

A pillar of the project is the preservation of the nature that’s inspired them, with the guys donating a portion of the revenue from their first album to The Nature Conservancy, who used it to plant roughly 1,000 trees. Their long-term objective is to stream with no net carbon emissions.
