Jaffna unveil a 13-track debut album, Odyssey, including outstanding chill and intimate single, Roots. The record includes an incredible minimalistic video. Both the album and the track are released via Enchanté Recordings.
“Roots” is a poetic and minimalist video about the band’s formation and history through travels. The record is an ode to travel where we are transported by breathless percussions and delicately chiseled voices. Kicking off with ethereal and hypnotic melodic lines, the tune introduces a soothing and intimate beat paired with an exciting top melody. The vocal is fresh and original and overall the track sounds incredible.
Roots is part of Odyssey album, the first one from Jaffna. It blends experimental and deep music with something more radio and feeling good-oriented. A special mention must go to You Got Together, a brilliant summer anthem with a shot of endorphins is the appropriate bright summer hymn to offer injection of endorphins to the system. The song is filled with bright basslines and mild, simplistic lyrics, making it irresistibly joyful. It doesn’t matter what you’re celebrating – your friends, the weekend, or even just a really good cup of coffee, Jaffna’s latest tune should be on your playlist.
Jaffna has accumulated just under 10 million streams across streaming platforms and has previously collaborated and toured with renowned French producer Thylacine.
Bravin, a classically trained pianist who emigrated from Sri Lanka and lived in Germany and London before going to Paris, and Stan, a French chef who was born and raised in Paris, make up Jaffna, which is currently based in Paris. They started working together in 2014, but it took them four years to produce their first EP, Retrograde, in 2018. Jaffna is influenced by the melting pot of London’s electronic scene, as well as travel in general and Bicep’s compelling works. In turn, their own sound will relate to fans who enjoy the works of Tycho, Floating Points, Rone and French 79.
