Following the release of his ‘Pai‘ EP on Purified Records in 2020, San Francisco-based producer Jake Kaiser returns with his 4-track ‘Hidden Spaces‘ EP. Kaiser effortlessly blends progressive and melodic sensibilities, exploring different textures and heights in his masterful offerings, ‘Fractals,’ ‘Moss,’ and ‘Sierras.’
Kicking off with the title track, Hidden Spaces introduces dreamy and feeling-good plucked melodies rapidly paired with progressive harmonies and clean beats. The up-and-down rhythm collides with the romantic and hypnotic lines for a nice feeling. Moss goes a little bit deeper with long and stripped synth lines that are always paired with gentle themes and cinematic lines. The beat progressions hit with the delicate sequences for another astonishing tune.
When the night kicks in and the club go dark, Sierras is the right record to drop on the dancefloor. Wobbling harmonies, like if you’re underwater, are masterly mixed with raw and dark techno percussions. The soothing vocal loop completes the mix of underground feelings. Last but not least, Fractal brings you to the other space. The soft arpeggio guides you through space and time for a hypnotic journey through the unknown.
