London-based DJ and producer, Joseph Ashworth kicks off the new year with a brand new feeling-good dreamy melodic techno tune, Pepper.
The tune starts with chugging chords before giving way to the track’s chunky, bold kicks and bassline, which propel it into pumping club territory. Pepper, however, is anything but one-dimensional, with sweeping synths and arpeggiating pads that develop in-depth as the tune progresses. Joseph Ashworth has an impressive series of releases on his back. Only last year he landed on Cocoon with Eavesdrop as well as on Adriatique’s imprint Siamese. He not only released a single, Sheen, but also a 4-track EP, Episode 8. He is also a long-time Anjunadeep friend as his first release goes back to 2015 followed by releases almost every year. In 2017 he released Dominika on Get Wired which has now amassed over 1 M Spotify streams.
Joseph approaches each piece of new music without pretense or discrimination, focusing on the emotion the music conveys rather than slotting within predetermined genre boundaries, with a sound that captures the gritty honesty of techno but with an experimental and melodic edge.
