Monocule brings back underground club vibes with ‘Awakening’
Monocule's Nicky Romero
With “Awakening,” Nicky Romero‘s eighth release as Monocule, an underground gem featuring vocals by British singer/songwriter Sarah De Warren, Nicky Romero returns in the guise of his alter-ego Monocule.
The new track starts off with rhythmic synths and deep, growling basslines, and it doesn’t waste any time in delivering a punch. The ethereal vocal riff of De Warren is carried on euphonious melodies, creating a sonic experience fit for late-night club energy. “Ways To Heaven,” a collaboration between Monocule and Jamis featuring composer/pianist Michael G. Moore, was released recently. Earlier this year, Monocule also dropped his “Monocule Volume 2” EP, which has already amassed over 2.5M streams on Spotify.
Nicky Romero continues to innovate and evolve during these unprecedented times in the music industry while showcasing his label’s roster via his weekly Protocol Radio show. In the year 2020, he debuted his alter ego Monocule, which is dedicated to Nicky’s insatiable desire for darker, underground sounds. Since his debut release, Monocule has represented a sonic spectrum that includes deep and growling basslines, emotive vocals, and dark and cinematic melodies, and we can’t wait to hear more.
