The highly anticipated third album You & I by the widely recognized singer-songwriter Rita Ora will be released on July 14 through BMG. Rita Ora also just dropped a brand-new single called “Praising You” with Fatboy Slim.

Rita co-wrote every song on the album, making You & I her most autobiographical work to date. Rita has produced an album with executive producer Oak Felder (Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Usher) that is conceptually connected to represent the various stages of her relationship. An upbeat song about the sensation of falling in love with someone wholly naturally.

This album means a lot to me, she said – Rita claims – It feels so true to me and who I am right now, like it’s been my sound for the past few years.

Rita also releases a new single, “Praising You” featuring Fatboy Slim, along with the news of You & I, the follow-up to her critically acclaimed sophomore pop smash Phoenix. This new song is a reworking of the Grammy-nominated, chart-topping cult anthem “Praise You,” which samples Camille Yarbrough’s “Take Yo’ Praise” and marks its 25th anniversary this year. Apple Music 1 premiere of “Praising You” by Zane Lowe uses the familiar piano melody and upbeat chorus of the original song to introduce Rita’s version of the narrative, which serves as a beautiful metaphor for the seductive nature of love. The song then explodes into an EDM summer anthem that is destined to be a hit.

Rita describes working with Norman and paying homage to a significant song from her youth as a genuinely weird experience.

Not only did I get Norman’s approval, but I also got to actually collaborate with him. I believe that everyone will have a different interpretation of what this song represents, but in my opinion, it is about thanking and truly celebrating your loved ones. I feel tremendously honored to be able to give the song fresh life and expose it to a whole new generation. – Rita Ora

Speaking on the revision, Norman explains, “A friendship and collaboration that on paper may look implausible emerged from a chance meeting late one night in the Naughty Corner at Glastonbury. Yet here it is, and it has a life of its own!

Rita and a group of dancers appear in the accompanying video, which was directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi and includes a cameo from Fatboy Slim. Rita guides the group through their clumsy dance with an homage to the Spike Jonze-directed “Praise You” video, gradually winning over the judges in what develops into a big Studio 54-style number with glamorous costume changes and excellent choreography. It is currently viewable on Facebook as a premium music video and on Instagram thanks to an exclusive deal with Meta; starting on April 28, it will be accessible on all platforms, including YouTube.

Rita will play “Praising You” for the first time on Tuesday, May 9, in the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final 1, along with a jaw-dropping medley of some of her best hits. The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Semi-Finals will be broadcast live for the first time on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and will also be accessible in over 35 other nations with a projected audience of over 40 million viewers.
