Idris Elba, who plays one of the lead characters in the highly anticipated video game Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has released three original tracks in the form of an extended play (EP) titled The Phantom Files EP.

In addition, a music video to accompany the lead single “Rolla Coaster” will be released very soon as well. This release is being done to coincide with the global release of the game.

Idris Elba dropped a surprise EP of original tracks that are included in the soundtrack of the much-hyped video game Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty of which Idris plays a lead role

Idris explores a darker and more highly produced sound in the three tracks that are included in the game’s official soundtrack. These tracks, which were released on his label 7Wallace on September 21st, are included in the game’s official soundtrack. Glitches and industrial sounds speak to the game’s dystopian vibe.

Idris plays the lead role of Solomon Reed, an FIA Agent for the New United States of America, who undertakes a difficult mission of espionage and survival.

Throughout the game, the three songs “ChokeHold,” “Walk Of Shame,” and “Rolla Coaster” are featured. Idris also portrays the part of Solomon Reed. Take a look at the breathtaking animation that Idris created here.

Musically speaking, Idris Elba has been riding the wave of a reinvigorated creative vigor. This one-of-a-kind release follows a run of tech-dance bangers, some of which include the slamming house track “Body Shots” and the Moombahton burner “Biggest,” which was used by Apple to announce their iPhone 14.

Idris maintains his position at the forefront of musical innovation and cross-genre collaboration with the release of this extended play (EP).

Idris Elba is not the first electronic music artist to join Cyberpunk 2077; Nina Kraviz also wrote some songs for the soundtrack at the game launch.

Electronic Dance Music in videogames

This is not the first time an electronic dance music producer has teamed up with a games studio for the soundtrack of a video game. Rockstar Games, the creators of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) have been at the forefront of this releasing several additional content featuring exclusive music and performances from top DJs. The most iconic has surely been when GTA Online released After Hours, introducing clubs inside the games and a complete soundtrack composed of 4 exclusive 1-hour sets by Tale Of Us, Solomun, Dixon, and The Black Madonna. All the sets were composed exclusively by never-heard and never-released IDs by the 4 artists, even today, they’re exclusive to Rockstar Games’s GTA.
