From October 13 to 17, the Amsterdam Dance Event will debut its brand new Arts & Culture program, which will allow electronic music fans to explore the world of dance outside of the dancefloor all over Amsterdam. Nelly Ben Hayoun, Helena Basilova, an artist residency program with Nxt Museum, and others are among the notable collaborations.

Electronic music and art are inextricably linked, and ADE is dedicated to showcasing the creative expressions that bridge the gap between dance music culture and the arts. ADE Arts & Culture is set to become the ideal place to explore the cross-pollination between club and culture through a dedicated program of exhibitions, special performances, art installations, documentaries, and more.

The first confirmed ADE Arts & Culture highlights include an artist residency showcase by Nxt Museum and ADE on ADE’s opening night, a series of spiritual healing experiences for ravers by award-winning director and designer Nelly Ben Hayoun, and an unplugged performance by pianist Helena Basilova surrounded by 800 candles, as well as events by Tools for Action x NDSM, Foam, Nederlands Kamerkoor, Co, and Tools for Action x NDSM.

Furthermore, ADE invites artists and entrepreneurs to participate in its collaborative projects with Villa Buitenlust and Music Moves: Music Moves aims to make the dance floor accessible to everyone and offers a free traineeship program to organize an official ADE event for the elderly, special needs children, and/or homeless people. Villa Buitenlust also extends an invitation to participate through a creative residency to develop and present new works.

During ADE, Amsterdam is full of unique locations and off-the-beaten-path hideaways. There are many more surprises to be found here than just dance spaces. Villa Buitenlust, in the heart of Amsterdam’s Westerpark, is one of these hidden gems, where people who are overwhelmed or temporarily lost in their home environment can stay for a while. Villa Buitenlust invites artists to a residency for the first time during ADE, where they can develop new work, connect, and give an intimate presentation of their progress.
