Brasilian sorceress ANNA arrives on Afterlife with a tryptic of atmospheric ascendence, Journey To The Underworld EP. Journey To The Underworld is a three-track EP that spaces from hard techno beat to melodic inspired soundscapes moving through trance transcendent atmospheres. It’s a real journey between different layers of techno and underground music.
Since March 2020 I am making music without the pressure (that only I put on myself) of creating something that is gonna have a strong reaction on the dance floor and this made me relax and experiment with different sounds and styles. This process opened me up to parts of myself that I didn’t know I had. I created some ambient music, I also have been studying sound healing and this helped me to use frequencies more consciously and for specific purposes. I have learned how to combine frequencies, music, and intention to induce states of expansion, love, joy, contemplation, and this gave a whole new purpose to my work. This whole process got me through these very difficult times. – ANNA
ANNA Journey To The Underworld is a carefully crafted EP that takes the listener on a real voyage through the consciousness.
Kicking off with the track’s title, Journey To The Underworld starts with enigmatic harmonies that without notice turn into a heavy beat. A small breath brings the track to another peak level, with enchanting rhythms and captivating percussions that deliver a feeling of perdition. Thunderous drums underpin a symphony of melodrama that lights up your emotional center.
Surrender keeps the heavy and serious beats to the previous tune, adding a layer of hope and expectancy. The solemn progressive soundscapes mussel with the minimal and wide sub-baseline creating a perfect combination between weight percussions and angelic harmonies. Surrender combines serenity with hypnotic rhythm to transport the listener into an alternate realm of consciousness.
The journey comes to an end with Dissolution where the heavy beats and the non-stop rhythm leave space for romantic soundscapes and unexplored enjoyments. The record delivers a sense of tranquility and calmness and gently drives you into a familiar and peaceful environment. Dissolution gently caresses the soul as it journeys home to the source.
