Charlotte de Witte, a powerhouse in the world of techno, is ready to release her eagerly awaited EP, Overdrive. This project serves as the anchor for her broader Overdrive Campaign, which is being released on the KNTXT Label. Overdrive is a manifestation of this philosophy, and it comes as a direct result of de Witte’s meteoric rise to the top of the electronic music world in 2019 on the strength of her distinctive sonic style that defies categorization. This extended play (EP) intends to present a street style that is gritty and lively, while also delivering high-energy tunes that are meant to lure listeners into the fast-paced pleasure that unlocks one’s turbocharged version of themselves.

While making Overdrive, I didn’t fully realize how applicable the lyrics are to my philosophy of life. The fast-paced tempo, which goes full force without looking back, is all about the feeling of being on the edge and living life to the fullest. – Charlotte de Witte

DJ, record producer, and label head de Witte pushes the boundaries of the electronic genre with music that has a distinct and unforgettable sound that is distinctly her own. She is most known for her “dark and stripped-back” brand of techno and underground music, and she is also a pioneer in the field of electronic music. Because of her inventive skill, De Witte is able to merge genres and styles in a way that has garnered her both a devoted fan base and widespread critical acclaim.

Charlotte de Witte x New York City Takeover

During future performances that will take place at The Brooklyn Mirage in New York City on May 18 and 19, 2023, De Witte is going to present the Overdrive EP for the very first time. The performances will be an homage to the unrefined and strong energy that permeates every nook and cranny of the city. The Overdrive Campaign is comprised of multiple facets, one of which is a bigger New York City takeover that includes a KNTXT pop-up merchandise store located at Extra Butter on the Lower East Side. The shows at the Brooklyn Mirage are one of these aspects.

The KNTXT pop-up shop at Extra Butter will run from May 17 to May 20 and will feature guest performances from artists affiliated with the label as well as exclusive items and clothing with designs inspired by the EP. The pop-up shop will be open to the public. The fact that this will be the first time that KNTXT products will be offered in the United States makes it an event that fans are looking forward to with great anticipation.

Overdrive is a love story between hip hop and techno, it’s inspired by both genres, but coated in a techno jacket. It’s meant to be played loud while driving at night and watching the city lights pass by, and where better to experience that than in New York City? – Charlotte de Witte

Overdrive is the first release from de Witte since her single “High Street,” as well as the first EP on her KNTXT label since her previous EP, “Apollo,” which was released in October 2022. Additionally, Overdrive is her first release since her collaboration with fellow techno artist Enrico Sangiuliano on the “Reflection” EP, which was released in March 2023. Prior to that, De Witte had collaborated with Sangiuliano on the production of their remix of “The Age of Love,” which went on to receive more than 40 million plays on Spotify and was awarded the gold certification in Belgium. Other recent albums by De Witte include her EP titled “Universal Consciousness,” which was released in 2022, and her EP titled “Formula,” which was released in 2021 and contained the chart-topping lead tune “Doppler.”
