Family Piknik will return in summer 2022, divided into four events, beginning on Sunday, July 31st, in the futuristic Lunel’s Arenas, highlighting some of the best Deep-Progressive artists.

The 2022 season of Family Piknik will be divided into four events, beginning on July 31st in the futuristic Lunel’s Arenas and featuring some of the best Deep-Progressive artists. Hernan Cattaneo b2b Nick Warren (3 hours sunset performance), Afterlife’s new stars Colyn b2b Denis Horvat and Nora en Pure will headline this Opening event along with Theus Mago b2b Pontias.
FAMILY WEEKEND 01
From the 6th to the 14th of August, the Family Piknik team will host two-weekend events in a row. The first will be held at the same location as the opening party, in Lunel’s Arenas, 15 minutes east of Montpellier. Maceo Plex, Guy Gerber, Whomadewho (live), Sébastien Léger, Eli & Fur, Frankey & Sandrino, and others will perform on Saturday, while Charlotte de Witte, Riche Hawtin, Rebuke, Eli Brown, Stella Bossi, and others will perform on Sunday. A second secret stage will welcome the best artists from Family Piknik Music’s own label, as well as local talents and guests such as Jeremy Olander, Anii, Stereo Express, and Oscarl L, to name a few…
Freshly revamped in 2018 with a half-roof, Lunel’s Arenas will be a dream dancefloor for these first events, allowing all-aged party people to enjoy some comfort with a huge chill outdoor terrace and some covered spaces all round the arenas, with the center ground being covered to avoid too much dust with all these dance moves to be expected… From 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., these two inaugural events in Lunel will set the tone for the new season!
FAMILY WEEKEND 02
Next is Family Week-end 02, which takes place on the 13th and 14th of August. This time, the party will be held on the other side of Montpellier, heading west toward the famous city of Sète and its magnificent Etang de Thau. Frontignan will host this second weekend in a green setting with lots of trees and fresh air. For that weekend, a Kid Zone will be constructed, and the second stage will be welcomed by a charming circular arena. Once again, connection will be easy with all the big cities, thanks to train station located only 400 meters away : 10 minutes from Montpellier center, 5 minutes from Sète. It’s the perfect place to come and have a safe time during this party weekend!
Musically, the focus on Saturday will be on House music, with a never-before-seen transition between the American House legend Danny Tenaglia, the DJ’s DJ, and the most acclaimed House artist in four years, FISHER. Next to them will be Dutch DJ Oliver Heldens, who has been ranked in the Top 100 DJs since 2013, and will perform under his dark techno alias, HI-LO. The combination of these three sets promises to be exciting!
The following day, August 14th, will be a wonderful journey for all Deep and Melodic House & Techno fans: an exclusive back-to-back between the legendary Dixon and his new favorite Jimi Jules, Afterlife’s wonder. On the main stage this Sunday, Innellea, All Day I Dream’s tastemaker ona Dahl, and best friends Joris Voorn & Kölsch will perform. On the other stage, much more intimate, we’ll have a collection of groove masters : Super Flu, Cioz b2b Sam Shure, Kadosh, TERR, Nico Morano, Sascha Braemer, KEENE and some of the artists from our Family Piknik Music own label.
This second Weekend in Frontignan will be very different from the first, which was held in Lunel’s Arenas. Tom Pooks, the mastermind behind Family Piknik, is pleased with the new collaboration with Frontignan city hall: « They immediately embraced our project. We were able to create a second Family Piknik weekend in a vegetal, green, and tree-lined decor that adheres to our original concept: family, kids, picnic, under the trees, thanks to them. The proximity of the train station, the stunning Etang de Thau, and some great beaches all around is the icing on the cake. All we need to enjoy a mesmerising party weekend.
THE FINAL EVENT WILL BE ON OCTOBER 1ST.
Following these hot summer events, it will be time for a breathtaking Closing event on October 1st in Béziers Arenas! Family Piknik’s final act with Boris Brejcha was such a success last year that we had to recreate the experience. And who better to host this 2022 closing event than Paul Kalkbrenner? During two hours, Berlin’s legendary techno stalwart will entertain over 8000 partygoers, along with Italian talents Agents of Time, who have recently topped the charts with their remix for The Weekend. Simina Grigoriu, Tom Pooks b2b Joy Kitikonti, Pontias & Abstraal will also be some of this last event’s highlights for sure.
