Honey Dijon Show Me Some Love single ahead of the album

Prior to the album’s release, Honey makes available the last single, “Show Me Some Love,” which was produced in association with Channel Tres and features Sadie Walker. Sadie Walker creates a lovely background for the warmth and lyricism of Channel Tres. This song, which combines Channel Tres’ enthusiastic yet gritty vocal with Honey’s distinctive dancefloor-focused groove, is already available.

I had a lot of fun working with Honey on this track, and it’s been fun through each step of the process. We weren’t together so it’s always exciting to see where a collaborator will take the record when you send your parts over and this one was special to me. It’s everything I love about underground dance music confident, and sexy. – Channel Tres

This year Honey Dijon‘s production skills have been utilized by the elite performers, reworking the lead single “Break My Soul” and producing two songs for Beyonce’s chart-topping album Renaissance, which redefines what it means to be a DJ in 2022. She now blatantly expresses her unique sound on “Black Girl Magic,” which marks the next stage in her growth as a producer and songwriter.

The “Black Girl Magic” project has consistently demonstrated Honey’s commitment to profiling diverse vocal talent, from the first teaser of the album, the BBC Radio 1 playlisted collaboration with Atlanta singer-songwriter Hadiya George, to the most recent single, “Show Me Some Love,” featuring Compton royalty Channel Tres. With the featured artists on the LP, Honey’s objectives to “keep our culture in the conversation” are highlighted, shining a focus on a new generation of LGBTQ people and people of color.

Behind the scenes, Honey collaborated frequently on the album’s production with Chris Penny and Classic Music Company founder and close friend Luke Solomon. Honey’s Chicago musical heritage is a driving force behind the LP, and she has her eyes set on displaying how she first encountered the music of her hometown felt powerfully across the record. It is her most daring and explorative work to date with a varied spectrum of inspirations.

I’m so excited to be a part of this album! Working with Honey Dijon and Luke Solomun was so fun and something so different to what I’ve ever done before – singing for the first time on a house beat! I’m so grateful for Honey and Luke asking me to be a part of. I can’t wait for everyone to hear our track and for them to dance to it in the clubs. – EVE

The artwork has been created using 3D sculpture

All previous songs leading up to “Black Girl Magic” have included artwork created using 3D sculptural digital renditions of Honey in collaboration with British artist Jam Sutton, whose work examines the connection between modernity and antiquity. The artwork for the album is the last in a series of custom Honey displays that explore identity, form, technology, and classical portraiture.

It was such a pleasure collaborating with Honey on a series of sculptures. Honey visited my studio where we spent an entire day discussing life and creativity. During this time, I captured a series of form studies using 3D scanning. Over two years, Honey and I worked together creating this body of work. I’m interested in the moment of transformation from human to digital form, from physical to virtual. Something is compelling about capturing a portrait of my subject as three-dimensional data, which I then refine to create sculptural pieces. I’m attempting to record not only the form and contours of flesh but also the essence of being; portraying human physicality suspended in digital space. – Jam Sutton

Black Girl Magic’ is a potent physical statement of Honey’s interdisciplinary artistic impact, and her influence is felt far and wide across the worlds of music, fashion, and art. Honey’s influence is felt across the worlds of music, fashion, and art, from her stratospheric DJ career to her fashion line with COMME des GARONS: Honey Fucking Dijon to soundtracking some of the most iconic fashion shows of the 21st century.
