Marco Faraone lands on Arcane with ‘Hurt To Feel Alive’

Eli Brown‘s Arcane imprint is back with yet another hard-hitting release destined to take over the club scene and the Beatport charts. The Bristol-based label will follow up with a release from Italian DJ and producer Marco Faraone, which will include a remix by rising star NANCY Live. With previous releases on Radio Slave’s Rekids, Factory 93, and Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, it’s safe to say that Marco’s Arcane debut couldn’t come soon enough!

Marco’s debut release on Eli Brown’s imprint, ‘Hurt To Feel Alive,’ is well worth the wait. The track begins with a heavy kick, a brooding baseline, and the playful dotted notes that Marco’s productions are known for. A seductive vocal enters the mix, leading the track to the drop, where Marco expertly inserts a second synth line, elevating the track to new heights. This is the kind of measured, yet effective production that dance fans have come to expect from Marco over the years, and it’s no surprise that the biggest names in house and techno are fans of his music.

NANCY Live’s remix is the next track on this release. The main melody for her track is a menacing, swirling baseline. Before the full vocal enters, warped synth lines blend with slices of the original vocal, directing the track towards the drop. This is a peak-time slammer of a remix from NANCY Live, who is quickly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with after releases on We Are The Brave, HE.SHE.THEY, and Apex Faction.

The artist: Marco Faraone.

Faraone, a Tuscan native, grew up surrounded by music: his father worked as a DJ for a local radio station in the 1980s, and his grandfather was a folk singer and musician. His first foray into DJing was dominated by the many hip-hop records that comprised his then-modest collection, which served as inspiration for a slew of these local influences. Years later, his sound evolved into drum n’ bass, before settling on the refined techno sound for which he is now best known.

Marco Faraone, now based in Ibiza, has recently released an album and a strong EP on Rekids, as well as an upcoming EP on Defected. In addition to these records, Marco is about to release a new album inspired by Ian Urbina’s book “The Outlaw Ocean.”
