For the second year in a row, Miami Beach just imposed a curfew after two fatal shootings happened over the weekend. The curfew was in effect from Sunday at midnight to Monday at 6:00 local time (10:00 GMT).
This is one of the peak tourist periods for Miami as the annual Spring Break is ongoing. Also, Miami Music Week is ready to kick off tomorrow, the 21st of March, and with it, tons of events, parties, pool parties, and, of course, the annual Ultra Music Festival Miami.
Despite official efforts to prevent bloodshed, the influx of people and weapons into the city has “created a risk that cannot go unchecked,” according to Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber in a video message issued on Sunday.
According to Miami Beach police, the most recent gunshot took place on Sunday in South Beach, one of Florida’s most well-known spring break locales.
Despite the fact that the last call for alcohol in some areas of Miami Beach was moved from 5:00 to 2:00 in response to noise complaints from city residents, recent increases in violence and disorder nevertheless occurred.
Is Miami Music Week 2023 affected by last weekend’s curfew?
At the moment it seems the measure has been put in action for this weekend only and there’s no other information about the curfew during Miami Music Week. Also, take into consideration that Ultra Music Festival is healed in Miami Downtown and it’s not subject to the City Of Miami Beach regulations.
