Oliver Heldens is back for his latest 2019 track in the form of Aquarius, out now via Heldeep Records.
One of the few occasion that Mr. Heldens release a tune under his main alias on Heldeep. Aquarius retrace the deep and housy Oliver’s signature sound with the injection of new and original elements. The record is built around a chord sample of Kerri Chandler’s legendary house standard Atmospheres. An intimate and more melodic mood sees Oliver Heldens experiment with different sounds; the achingly soulful chord pattern kicks the track off, with an intense snare roll building up the energy for the big reveal of the rubbery, melancholic bassline. Aquarius features snappy, shuffling beats and a cinematic touch on the breakdown creating a very unique feeling. The interplay between the bass and the chords is sublime, and it makes for one of Heldens’ most beautiful tracks to date.
Oliver Heldens is pushing house music boundaries with his imprint Heldeep. We’ve joined the annual label party in Amsterdam for ADE and we were surprised for the high-quality music and artists selection. Releasing music from house music heavyweight as Chocolate Puma and HI-LO himself, Heldeep has become a good environment to improve and build new talents’ sound.
2019 was a monumental year for Oliver seeing him place #7 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll, selling out a Heldeep Records Worldtour, and the unveiling of a statue of him in his home town of Rotterdam. 2020 holds even bigger and better things!
