PARIS drops ‘Mangata/Dreamstate’ EP on This Never Happened

Australian-born DJ and producer PARIS is quickly establishing himself as a standout figure in the worlds of melodic techno and deep house by fusing the two genres into one and breeding it with modern sensibilities. The rising star, whose “10 Years From Now/Collide” double release with Kaleida marked her debut on Lane 8’s This Never Happened last year, now returns to the prestigious imprint with her most recent work, “Mangata/Dreamstate.” The dual offering is out now via Lane 8‘s This Never Happened.

The Mangata/Dreamstate EP

Mangata,” the first track on the two-tracker, is a cerebral slice of deep tech bliss that both excites and calms. Employing an 80’s synth line to lead the melodic charge, PARIS layers her elements to stunning effect, creating a harmonious dichotomy between her top lines and tribal-infused beats.

The space for percussion is filled with delicate industrial timbres, which give the production a rich texture. Masterfully arranged from start-to-finish, and with intrigue around every corner, “Mangata” makes for a profoundly hypnotic and rapturous listening experience that showcases PARIS’ resolute commitment to progression and originality.

Dreamstate,” the b-side from PARIS, continues the narrative. The cut, which is built on mesmerizing percussion and an addictive melodic sequence, ebbs and flows with boundless euphony while veering between fast tempos and extended cinematic breaks. Utilizing space and simplicity, PARIS rejects the traditional formatting of dance music, opting for a techno cut that is more subdued in nature; subtle yet intricate in its undergrowth.

With a sound that is clearly her own, PARIS has developed her sonic palette recently and given authenticity a high priority throughout her back catalogue. This brand-new double release is further evidence of her impending rise to dance music royalty.
