Paul Roux presents 4-track ‘Humanity EP’

French producer Paul Roux presents his 4-track EP Humanity, a mix of electronic sounds, raw percussions, and dreamy harmonies. The final track on Paul Roux’s Humanity EP, “Blue Lines,” uses seductive pads and a shimmering, percussion-driven beat to go deep into a sonic landscape that speaks to the human condition.

What I appreciate about art and music is its strength, power, and ability to provide escapism and a moment to question ourselves, we live in a fast-paced world where overconsumption is rife. I wanted to create some time out, with the Humanity EP acting as personal therapy for me; A self-assessment of nature and of things I find essential in life. – Paul Roux

Paul Roux, a French producer, creates astronomy-related music. The cinematic aesthetic, rhythmic like a heartbeat and tingling with its evocative, raw intensity, calls to the human connection. The Humanity EP follows up the producer’s debut album World as Memorial Home, projecting the artist yet further into a spiritual and ghostly sound, rooted in that classic Chicago aesthetic. It is a sound that communicates to each and every one of us and is inherently human.

Paul Roux first gained recognition as a musician with an ear for ethereal, dreamlike, and experimental rhythm records with the 2021 release No Doubt on the Dutch label ARTS. He has since helped to popularize this sound through his labels Venom Recordings, Rapid Eye Movement, and his more recent project, Wide Division.

The French producer was requested to rejoin the fray with the Humanity EP, released on Alan Fitzpatrick‘s electronica label, Apex Faction, following the previous and highly acclaimed release Emperia on Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint.

The album opens with “Humanity,” a song that blends sombre strings, eerie soundscapes, and a soothing rhythmic flow to create a profound yet potent masterpiece. With a soulful house beat and strings that swell like waves, “Adventure” quickens the pace. In fact, the record’s inspiration came largely from the outdoors. “The environment inspires me, so when I create music, I go on an adventure and try to share my feelings and vision,” Roux says about the production process. “When I create Humanity, I picture a warm location with blue skies and singing birds. Jacques Chirac’s moving lecture from 2002 about global warming opens “Forevermore.” Before “Blue Lines,” which closes the EP, uses sensual pads and a shimmering, percussive beat to fathom a deep, sonic canvas that speaks directly to the human condition, “Sweet Dreams” opens the EP with sweeping, cinematic interludes, deep chords, and an ever-present resonance locking its tender hooks into the listeners’ souls.
