Porter Robinson’s protégé RAITO debuts on Suara with the heavy ‘Ikaruga EP’. The EP contains 5 tracks available on your favorite music store and streaming platform.
A recent report from Sky News says that illegal raves are increasing in the UK. Nothing comparable to a third Summer of Love, but still good news for the Dance Music circuit; this kind of events help to stimulate the creation of new, experimental music, and shaping a renewed culture. “Why the hell is he talking about raves?” – well, every time I listen to a RAITO track, my mind pairs the music with a rave scene, straight from the 90s.
The French producer, a favorite of Porter Robinson (who entrusted him for remixing ‘Ghost Voices’) has just released a bombastic 5-track EP on Coyu’s respected Suara imprint, which is titled ‘Ikaruga EP’. After the success of ‘One Step Beyond’, a ravey House banger released on Boysnoize Records, RAITO proves again his love for heavy basslines, acid leads, and obsessive grooves with this incredible collection of dancefloor destroyers.
The EP opens up with ‘Ikaruga’ itself, a dark techno composition based on the crescendo of the tritonal leading melody, which explodes in a minimal drop. ‘Caustic’, with its’ Industrial elements, is even heavier, while ‘002’ and ‘Mew’ are nothing but ravey, with notes of acid and quasi-DDR leads (not that DDR, this DDR!). Closing up the party is ‘Dark Ritual’, whose title really says it all.
RAITO’s “Ikaruga EP” is out now on Beatport as well, so go grab your copy!
