Afterlife celebrates the 50th release on the label with Recondite ‘Bird EP’
Tale Of Us’ iconic imprint Afterlife Records have recently celebrated the 50th installment with long-time friend Recondite and his 2-track EP Bird.
After appearing on early Realms Of Consciousness compilations and releasing the Rainmaker EPin 2018, the German producer is back with two brand new tunes. Recondite has a long history with Afterlife, including numerous appearances at the label’s events around the world. He demonstrates his technical ability and emotional intelligence with the Bird EP, which features two tracks with contrasting themes that complement each other.
Kicking off with the title track, Bird, Recondite explores the notion of freedom through sonic transcendence, offering hope and optimism with its gentle melodies and subtle euphoria. Featuring an amazing synth-work perfectly merged with plucked and hypnotic lines and ancient melodies, Bird keeps the listener suspended in a mystical dimension of pleasure.
Secludedtakes the opposite approach, exploring the inner conflict sparked by isolation and living in confinement. The intimate and comforting melodies turn into dark and gloomy arpeggios with the beats that mute into an obscure and cryptic percussive ryhtyhm. Taut beats and brooding melancholy underpin this cut, with a solemn repetitive riff adding emotive urgency. The track is a constant escape from reality made difficult by the sense of disorientation injected with the drums’ flow.
