Sebastian Ingrosso shuts down REFUNE and launches new label
It's called Young Guru Lab and it's the next chapter of Sebastian Ingrosso in the A&R and label manager panorama
Sebastian Ingrosso REFUNE
Swedish House Mafia’s member, Sebastian Ingrosso, announced the end of his own label REFUNE. This won’t be the end of Ingrosso as label manager and A&R as a new label will be launched soon: Young Guru Lab.
Together with Axwell‘s Axtone and Steve Angello’s SIZE, Sebastian Ingrosso’s REFUNE has been one of the leading labels when it comes to the EDM and progressive house gold era. The legendary Angello & Ingrosso 555 or Sebastian Ingrosso’s Kidsos have been the soundtrack for many of us. The label really started to get traction around 2011 when Alesso dropped the Dynamite EP and, after that, the now legendary collaboration with label head Ingrosso, Calling. From this point on, REFUNE becomes one of the most in-demand labels in the world releasing classics such Million Voices by Otto Knows and Alesso’s Yearsor Clash. REFUNE was also the home of the only album released by Alesso, Forever which now counts more than 1 billion streams on Spotify alone.
In 2012 REFUNE also landed in Miami for the annual Music Week throwing its own party at the iconic WALL at the W South Beach featuring on the lineup Ingrosso himself, Alesso, Otto Knows, and Swanky Tunes. That one was one of those magic nights you can just tell as, besides an iconic Alesso b2b Ingrosso, Dirty South joined the party as well. In the same year, REFUNE launched REFUNE radio, one of the first radio show/podcast in the electronic dance music panorama.
But every good thing comes to an end sooner or later and, this is the time of REFUNE. Despite the not-so-great news, Sebastian Ingrosso announced the launch of a new music label as well. Named Young Guru Lab, the brand new Sebastian Ingrosso music imprint will be the future of REFUNE. At the moment there’s no info about the music genre, the release schedule, and so on but fans are already pumped to see what’s next.
