Stacey Pullen, a pioneer of Detroit techno, makes his Factory 93 Records debut with a multi-track package that follows the old-school vinyl philosophy of providing multiple reworks and VIPs for singles.

Feel It” is a discerning, driving track inspired by “80s Black music and Italo Disco,” creating dancefloor magic with Sylvester’s soulful vox and smashed-out disco loop. The legacy act brings a retro vibe to the modern dancefloor.

Since many of today’s clubbers were just a twinkle in their parents’ eyes, the Black Flag label-boss has been crafting sleek and soulful dance music as a revered torchbearer of second-wave Detroit techno. ‘Feel It / Circus Act,’ which finds him harkening back to the ’90s tradition of latching on a variety of mixes and VIPs to a record, demonstrates his ability to concoct pounding, infectious grooves.

‘Feel It’ is driven by the sensational vocal snippet of Mighty Real by Sylvester. The adlib vocal is fueled by a driven bassline and the bassline fuels the track with excitement and energy – Stacey Pullen

Feel It‘ is the pinnacle of the high-tech soul. Squelchy bass, crunchy drums, and a soothing vocal contrast elegantly with the track’s raw, roughed-up tone. On the Full Force Mix, Stacey amps up the energy with a beefy bassline that will add finesse to both house and techno sets. The Nice & Smoove mix, on the other hand, features a deeper, headier cut with a hypnotic groove and textured sound design capable of enveloping listeners from all angles.

Circus Act‘ builds on the foundation of the classic loop-based house and adds all of Stacey’s signature sounds. As it pounds along in half-bar iterations, a relentless sample burrows deeper into your eardrums, resulting in an effective and sophisticated roller perfect for building momentum on the dancefloor. Nic Fanciulli takes on the remix duties, stacking Stacey’s insistent formula alongside an insatiable bassline. Fanciulli teases the track’s original elements by building to a dizzying climax of crispy 909 snares before returning to the muscular beat.

‘Circus Act’ has a disco sample from one of my favorite Italo Disco records from the ‘80s and has always inspired me when I heard it – Pullen

Stacey Pullen’s ‘Feel It / Circus Act’ is out now on Factory 93 Records, and it’s built around his extensive knowledge as a selector and his unmatched expertise in the studio.
