IKEA has teamed up with the Swedish House Mafia to explore the topic of music and creativity at home. They will present a collection set that should debut in September of 2022.

Whether you’re producing, playing, or listening to music, it plays an important role in the home. It is a point of connection as well as a way to boost creativity, relieve stress, and make one’s surroundings feel more at ease.

People are making music at home in greater numbers, and for many music lovers, their home is where they begin to explore their creativity. The problem is that a home is frequently built and designed to meet needs that are vastly different from those you have as a music fan or creator.

According to IKEA, the collection will include home furnishings that make it easier to get into a creative flow at home when producing, playing, and listening to music.

We are very excited and happy to announce the collaboration with Swedish House Mafia. With their solid expertise in music production, we hope to be able together to democratize creativity and music production so that even more people can be more creative at home – James Futcher, Product Design Leader at IKEA of Sweden

Swedish House Mafia and IKEA collection

This is just the latest news involving the Swedish House Mafia and IKEA. Swedish House Mafia and their art director Alexander Wessely were spotted heading into an IKEA prototype factory in South Sweden in February of 2020, and the reason for this has now been revealed. Given the black, dark, and mysterious aesthetic of Wessely and how it has reflected on the latest trios’ appearance as well as on their overall look, it will be interesting to see how this new furniture will look like.

The news was teased on social media by the Swedish House Mafia, who wrote tomorrow in Swedish rather than the usual English. The first IKEA Festival takes place today, September 16th. Artists, designers, DJs, chefs, and others have transformed their homes into virtual stages for the 24-hour festival. The IKEA Festival was the ideal venue for announcing the Swedish giants’ collaboration.

We both wanted to reach out of our comfort zones and create something new and fresh together: a pure collaboration between music creators and a home expert. We strongly felt a need to collaborate with someone who shared our vision of making it possible for everyone to create music at home. As artists and producers, we also understand the importance of a home studio set-up and the needs and challenges many up-and-coming artists and creatives have at home – Swedish House Mafia.

We want to explore how IKEA together with Swedish House Mafia could make the everyday life easier for the many people listening to and creating music. This collection will enable people to create the perfect home studio for an affordable price – says James Futcher.
