Pulse Music” pianist James Heather has handpicked a group of artists, bands, ensembles, and composers to remix 11 songs from his album ‘Invisible Forces‘ and two ‘Modulations‘ EPs. Heather’s instinctive, resonant piano playing is combined with sounds and instruments from ambient, classical, electronic, jazz, and rock to refocus the original works in a new light.

Steven Weston, a Grammy-nominated engineer, producer, and songwriter, changes the mood of ‘Beginnings‘ with emotive techno.

Heather’s grandfather taught him composing and how to tune piano strings when he was a child.

Composing on piano became his love after being inspired by Beethoven, Debussy, and his neighbor’s Acid House pirate radio show, and following his near-death experience, he had the energy to step out as an artist.

His ‘Pulse Music’ method sees him playing spontaneously, with neither metronome or notation but instead relying on instinct to decide where things go, an approach that is less prevalent in classical music.

His work is influenced by electronic music and post-rock in its study of meditative buildup, as well as classical and jazz.

Steven Weston’s remix of James Heather’s Beginnings is out now; available on Reworks: Vol2.
