Tigerskin & Jack Jenson - Your Eyes

Tigerskin & Jack Jenson release the classy ‘Your Eyes’ EP via Exploited Ghetto

Exploited releases another cross-genre top notch EP injected by free-flowing live bass grooves, dubby vocal delays and sweet harmonies

Two years on from their fantastic ‘Circles’ EP, the formidable combination of Berlin duo Tigerskin (aka Dub Taylor) and Jack Jenson return to Shir Khan’s Exploited Ghetto with another two prime cuts that are more than just dancefloor workouts. The Berliner label, which mainly specializes in Deep House, delights us with another state-of-the-art outing, the umpteenth of the year.

The gorgeous Heart Beat channels cool, introverted ‘80s electro-pop by the likes of Depeche Mode, with sublime vocals courtesy of Isis. Stripped-back beats relay the track’s title rhythmically, underpinning plump bass that plays an arpeggiated melody in tandem with a crisp, classic synth line. Subtle FX, percussive fills and Isis’ vampy delivery are all that’s needed to keep this sensual track rolling.

Your Eyes is an entirely different proposition. Free-flowing live bass grooves from Frank Binke’s talented fingers provide the backbone to a Balearic-tinged disco-oriented workout where dubby vocal delays and sweet harmonies soar over live percussion and flashes of twinkling synth magic. Hushed electric piano keys thicken the intonation, while the arrangement gradually develops alongside evolving atmospheric vocal textures.

All in all, it’s a brilliantly sophisticated EP that shows real diversity and class from Tigerskin and Jack Jenson.
