As soon as the festival ended, the creative minds behind Burning Man were already making plans for the 2024 show. This year the excitement grows with the reveal of Caroline Ghosn‘s design for the 2024 Burning Man Temple: the Temple of Together.

The Design of Burning Man 2024 Temple of Together

The 2024 Temple of Together is an amazing example of how powerful group awareness and shared humanity can be. At its core, the design shows the meaning of two hands joining together in prayer. It is an old spiritual action that stands for unity, humility, and respect. This unity is shown by the archway at the 6:00 entrance, and the neo-Gothic pointed arches pay homage to the Art Deco style’s layered beauty.

The Temple is a physical representation of the energy that comes together when different things come together. If you’re wondering about dimensions, the temple has a width of 94 feet and a height of 70 feet above the playa. The building’s cover honors many cultures and fits with environmental goals. It is based on reeded weaving methods. All of it makes the temple easy for workers of all skill levels to help.

Many parts of the Temple’s design work together to make the energy flow smoothly. This lets light shine through the altar, tower, and rising lanterns. Images of the Temple make you feel like you’ve seen them before; they look like designs from other Burning Man Temples, like David Best’s touching ode to Caroline’s gateway Temple, the Temple of Grace.

Caroline Ghosn’s 2024 Temple of Together symbolizes unity, humility, and respect through its design, embracing collective consciousness. As the first Black female lead artist, Ghosn emphasizes sustainability and inclusivity, fostering a transformative experience for participants at Burning Man 2024

Caroline Ghosn is the lead artist. Her stage name is Glitter Kitty.

Caroline Ghosn, who created the 2024 Temple of Together, has been to Burning Man before. She knows how powerful it can be. Caroline, who was known as “Glitter Kitty” at Camp Mystic, had her first Burn in 2014. It changed her life and made her want to add to the community’s experience.

Caroline has a unique view of art. She is a global citizen has worked as an environmental consultant, and loves bold, aligned self-expression. After overcoming her own struggles with illness and trauma that ran through her family, she sees her life events as connected to her art. Caroline led the “Disturb My Slumber” project in 2022. It got people to think about the riches they found in the darkness caused by the pandemic.

Some of my life experiences were so deeply painful and challenging that I broke apart and put myself back together again with as much love as I could muster. That heartbreak is now inextricably linked with my creativity and my creations, and my deep passion for exploring unifying themes of our human condition, such as grief and self-reckoning (and the remembering that it takes to heal). – Caroline

The process of choosing: unity in diversity

Picking the Burning Man Temple requires a careful balance between newness, aesthetic appeal, and the moral character of the lead artist. The Temple of Together stood out because of its unique look, dedication to sustainability, and Caroline’s unique point of view as the first Black female lead artist at the Temple.

Caroline’s focus on the experience of participants, including everyone, and long-term viability was a key factor in the choice. The 2024 Temple of Together is not only a work of art; it was also built by skilled builders and leaders from earlier Temples working together. It helps reach the larger goal of radical diversity and inclusion in the Burning Man community.

As we look forward to the 2024 Burning Man Temple of Together, we start a path of unity, sustainability, and transformative self-exploration.
