Kygo joins forces with Ava Max for their new single “Whatever”

“Whatever” is Kygo and Ava Max’s latest track, a fun spin on Shakira’s “Whenever, Wherever.” The song, released on RCA Records, combines guitar strums, powerful vocals, and house music elements. The accompanying music video, directed by Dano Cerny, follows Ava Max on a lonely desert highway. This marks Kygo’s first release of 2024, following his 2022 album, “Thrill Of The Chase.”

World-famous DJ, songwriter, and singer Kygo teams up with Ava Max on “Whatever.” The tune is out now on RCA Records.

Although “Whatever” is a fun take on Shakira’s multi-platinum hit “Whenever, Wherever,” the song starts with a rush of guitar strums. The song also features Ava’s powerful singing as she deals with the end of a relationship. As she finds the strength to move on, the instantly recognizable chorus starts. It continues with a rush of synths and production that sounds like house music.

The music video for the song was directed by Dano Cerny. He has worked with The Chainsmokers, Halsey, and Elle King. The video for “Whatever” is the first piece of visual content from Kygo this year. It follows Ava Max along a lonely desert highway.

Whatever” is his first release of 2024. It comes after Kygo’s official remake of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson’s famous number-one hit “Say Say Say” last year. His fourth studio album, Thrill Of The Chase, came out in 2022. It featured collaborations with X Ambassadors, DNCE, Lukas Graham, Gryffin, Sam Feldt, Dean Lewis, and more.
