After having released their stunning single Latlal in 2022, the techno duo Fairplay welcomes Hyenah and Spada on board for a double remix.
Jordanian duo Fairplay‘s second release on Phonique’s brand-new label Zatar Music is a stunning, deep, melodic house track that draws inspiration from their native culture and features vocals from Sahrawi vocalist Mariem Hassan. The original mix weaves musical layers, giving nomadic music a contemporary viewpoint. Fairplay’s musical style is distinguished by an eclectic, introspective, and surprising approach. Their approach favors organic sounds, frequently focusing on the hallucinogenic and the obscure, to create richly layered, entrancing productions.
They draw inspiration from their diverse ethnic heritage and blend their distinctive hypnotic melodies with a moving vocal sample to create a piece that both symbolizes their message of staying loyal to one’s roots and is a thoroughly contemporary example of melodic house.
The tune was first remixed by long-time partners Anturage & Alexey Union. With the help of Hassan’s vocal sample, which has uplifting qualities, they gradually add layers of percussion and synthesizers to produce a crisp, progressive cut that gradually heightens the tension.
Now, after more than 6 months from the first release, Hyenah and Spada jump on board for a double remix.
Hyenah, a resident of Watergate’s renowned RISE afro house parties, is first up. Mariem Hassan’s stunning vocals are balanced in the main version with shuffled beats and a driving groove that are influenced by music from all around the African continent and beyond. Hyenah developed his own distinctive sound during the previous years with releases on Freerange, Rise Music, and Watergate Records. In 2022, he published his debut album, “Love In Time Of Crisis.”
The award-winning producer Phonique’s new label, Zatar Music, debuted in July 2022 with a brand-new remix of Feel What You Want, one of his most well-known songs, by Ukraine’s rising sensation Korolova. Now, the label welcomes Fairplay again with this double remix package.
Zatar Music is going to be my main focus, both for my own productions and artists I believe are making extraordinary music. I will of course continue to release on other labels, but Zatar gives me the opportunity to fully explore the more organic, melodic side of my production.
