The UK’s favourite polymath, Idris Elba continues a renewed focus on musical output by delivering Body Shotswith the music video.
Idris Elba, who needs no introduction, balances his success in the music industry with his position as one of the world’s most in-demand actors.
He follows a spate of explosive summer dancefloor releases with an official music video for his smashing house tune “Body Shots,” riding the tide of fresh musical vitality. Idris brings the party to your screens in the dance-based performance video, which gives the song a smoky club vibe.
The song, which was released earlier this summer, features a bass line with an old-school feel, rasping swung hi-hats, unusual synth stabs, and a seductive vocal sample that creates a thundering house track. Idris explains:
Body Shots is a record I produced just in time for my summer sets, especially for Ibiza earlier in the year! The track is just pure vibes, we just shot a wicked video infused with celebration of lights and movement to display the real essence of the tune. The visual reminds me old school MTV vibes. – Idris Elba
This comes after the previous track, “Biggest,” which Apple used to introduce the new iPhone 14. Idris also had a residency at David Guetta’s event at Hi in Ibiza this summer. He also had a huge collaboration with The FaNaTiX on the worldwide hit song “Vroom,” on which he appeared alongside Lil Tjay, Davido, and Koffee.
His 7Wallace imprint, which has released music by Che Lingo, Q-Tip, Cypress Hill, Little Simz, Toddla T, and Chip, continues to offer a platform for established artists. Drizilik, Sierra Leone’s most prominent modern artist, and Idris collaborated on the Afro-pop hit “Ashobi,” one of the label’s most recent releases. Elba’s ability to straddle genres in his own special way, always with an emphasis on the dancefloor while embracing his West African heritage, is demonstrated by the recent flurry of music releases.
Idris Elba’s performance in “Body Shots” is another example of his incredibly outstanding musical range and diversity.
