Do LaB, the creators of Lighting in a Bottle and originators of the boutique festival experience, have announced a slew of new programming elements and themes for the event’s 2022 return. On Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-30, the LIB community will once again take over the shores of Buena Vista Lake in Southern California for five days to reconnect and let sparks fly.

Where Lightning Strikes,” the festival’s 2022 theme, embodies the festival’s long-standing ethos of creating space for connection and expression. Lightning in a Bottle defies the stereotype of a music festival by emphasizing participation. It’s a place where lifelong friendships, relationships, and memories are formed, a temporary home where excitement, fun, and surprises await.

The 2022 festival experience.

To support this mission of reconnection as a reflection of its community’s needs, Do LaB has reimagined the Lightning in a Bottle 2022 experience. A new sandy beach, aptly named LIBeach, is set to open on Thursday, with a daytime opening party already planned and talent to be announced. A new layout will mean less walking between stages and welcome a roaming cast of Art Cars for pop-up surprises throughout the week.

Stages that are considered flagships To support the mission of this truly five-day festival experience, Thunder and Woogie will see a new direction and expanded programming. Thunder, which is known for being the event’s bass music haven, will be transformed into a tree-lined theater where multiple genres will be showcased in the open-air with the event’s most diverse lineup to date. Woogie, a fan favorite, will add a full day of Thursday house and techno talent to its lineup, giving you yet another reason to arrive on Wednesday for the full LIB experience. Do LaB will also debut a new stage, Junk in the Trunk, at LIB next year. Junk in the Trunk, which was first seen at Burning Man, will take the place of Favela as the event’s host location for California’s favorite native house and techno artists.

The VIP experience: a festival within the festival.

LIB will offer a new VIP experience only Do LaB can dream up for those looking for the joy of a camping festival with expanded creature comforts. VIP pass holders can relax in backstage lounges at Lightning, Thunder, and Woogie, grab a quick drink from full bars, and watch headlining acts from the elevated Lighting Stage viewing area.

Atlaswyld, a festival-within-a-festival with glamping options and elevated content ready to be explored, is another new boutique camping experience announced by LIB. Each morning, wake up in a luxurious Bell Tent, Kodiak, or Airstream to a tailored yoga and wellness program, culinary programming, Happy Hour mixers, and other high-end encounters designed to dazzle alongside the festival’s immersive landscape of wonder and discovery.

Dates and tickets for the new edition.

These new additions will add to the festival’s nearly four-decade commitment to bringing together forward-thinking music on multiple stages, educational and cause-related discussions and activities at The Compass, and intriguing immersive programming from favorites like The Grand Artique and Unicorn Palace, among other things.

Lightning in a Bottle is ready to reclaim its traditional Memorial Weekend date – May 25-30, 2022 – on the beautiful shores of Buena Vista Lake in Southern California. Buena Vista Lake, with its swimmable waters, lush grassy topography, and dense shade trees, provided immediate comfort and familiarity to the LIB community. This magical playground will come to life even more in 2022, providing an idyllic setting for the reconnection we all so desperately need.

General Onsale happens Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10 am PST. Lock in your spot at LIB 2022 for only 25% of the total order price!
