HI-LO returns to Drumcode with 2-track EP

HI-LO returns to Drumcode to share another pair of exhilarating dancefloor gems ‘CRESCENDO” and ‘OPEN YOUR MIND’

The undisputed master of house music, HI-LO, is back at Drumcode with two more pulsating tracks perfect for the dance floor.

The techno alias of Oliver Heldens has found a home at Drumcode, where he has released the EPs ‘Hypnos‘ and ‘WANNA GO BANG‘ in consecutive years. He also led the A-sides compilation of the previous year with a stellar Layton Giordani collaboration titled ‘Rabbit Hole,’ and lent his touch to Adam Beyer & DJ Rush’s ‘Restore My Soul,’ as well. In the meanwhile, his presence at Drumcode‘s events in Miami WMC and The Warehouse Project has been greatly appreciated by attendees.

The powerful ‘CRESCENDO‘ serves as the lead single for his comeback to Beyer’s label. The track starts off as an appealing roller and then gradually builds into a pounding peak-time composition. It is distinguished by a haunting synth progression that demonstrates HI-LO’s adept studio skill.

My aim was to craft something hypnotic, dark, and trippy while maintaining a melodic and groovy essence. Personally, ‘CRESCENDO’ is one of those tracks I can play on an endless loop without getting tired of it. It has been exhilarating to witness the overwhelming response to the track in my HI-LO sets and in Adam’s sets at Timewarp Germany and Brazil – HI-LO

It is accompanied by a thrilling track called “OPEN YOUR MIND,” which HI-LO says was inspired by the famous DK8 classic “Murder Was the Bass.” This composition has a foot in the techno, electro, and breakbeat camps, and it is headed by a ripping hoover.

After months of road testing and fine-tuning, I am beyond excited about the final result. I’ve had a blast playing this track not only in my HI-LO sets but also in several ‘mainstage’ sets as Oliver Heldens. Also quoting Adam: ‘That groove is amazing! Super funky, gritty, uplifting – it’s got it all!’ I couldn’t agree more with that! – HI-LO
