The exciting live group N/UM released their new EP “First Light” on Ninetofire. It comes after their show during New Year at the Cityfox New Year’s Eve Party at Avant Gardner in New York City.

It’s that time again: N/UM turns their live and improvised recording sessions into amazing, classic albums. “First Light” bends the lines between minimal, melodic, and deep house, making something completely new.

The First Light EP

N/UM’s three-track EP “First Light” takes you on a fascinating and varied trip through the worlds of electronic music.

As the EP starts with “Minor Infractions,” it gives off a hypnotic mix of minimal techno vibes, with a slow baseline and deep percussion beats. A top synth-plucked line that sounds like old times and a spooky vocal choir give the track extra depth and mystery.

Moving on to “How Dancing Goes,” the mood changes to one that is darker and chillier. It has soothing tunes and harmonies that are a little different from the darker techno beats of the previous track.

Finally, “First Light” is the last track on the EP. It has a strange vibe and a darker, more mysterious tone, especially in the beginning. However, as the song goes on, it reveals softer parts, like a delicate female voice and hints of Middle Eastern-inspired vibes, weaving a rich and evocative soundscape.

Throughout the EP, N/UM shows how good they are at mixing different electronic sounds to make a unique and memorable musical experience.

The trio’s sound is a hypnotic, dreamlike journey with many levels of depth.

It’s made up of warm live instruments, voice, and some of the most classic electronic instruments out there.

From the ethereal washes of electric guitars with lots of effects to the poignant sounds of analog synths, pulsating modular gear, captivating vocals, and drum machines that drive the beat.

The EP is a real piece of work that comes from the middle of New York. N/UM plays at clubs and music events all over the world to show off their sound and unique style.

But, who’s N/UM?

The electronic live trio N/UM from New York is known as a modern pioneer of electronic live music. Their fully improvised live sets mix vocals, guitar, and classic analog electronic instruments to create a truly genre-bending experience.

There are no pre-written songs agreed-upon structures or plans for N/UM’s performances or recordings. Each one is different and spontaneous.

The group is made up of three old friends who have always loved electronic music very much.

They are recording engineer and producer Jeremy Loucas, who has won five Grammy Awards, guitarist Elias Meister of the famous rap group Residente (Calle 13), and Emil Bovbjerg, a Danish musician who plays many instruments and makes music.

Over the past ten years, the three have recorded and performed together in a variety of groups.

Now, as N/UM, they have come together as a solid musical unit that can take over major dance floors around the world and bring the unique immediacy and spontaneity of improvisation to festivals, nightclubs, and underground warehouse parties, where it is rarely heard.
