Beatport unveils plans to launch Web3 electronic music platform

Beatport.io will bring electronic music to Web3, giving fans access to exclusive collectibles and interactive experiences with artists and labels

Beatport, the global leader in electronic music for DJs, producers, and their fans, is joining forces with Polkadot, the next-generation blockchain network powering the movement for a better web, to launch Beatport.io, a digital collectible marketplace bringing electronic music culture to Web3. Beatport.io, created and designed in collaboration with Define Creative, will debut on Aventus, a provider of Web3 solutions for businesses and parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem.

Web3 users will be able to access rare treasures and have interactive encounters with artists and labels thanks to Beatport.io

This platform, which serves as Beatport’s first permanent residence in the Web3 sector, enables record companies and artists to produce and market distinctive digital products while increasing fan engagement. It will allow artists, producers, and record labels to enjoy the benefits of Web3, while also giving music fans an opportunity to explore the value of digital collectibles and deepen their connection to their favorite artists and DJs.

The electronic music community has always been at the forefront of cultural shifts and their early embrace of Web3 and all the promise it offers is no different. To usher in a new era for the electronic music space, we felt it was important to join forces with a trusted, long-time leader in the blockchain space. Polkadot’s open and interoperable ecosystem enables us to seamlessly tap into Web3 and celebrate electronic music by connecting fans with their favorite artists in unique and powerful new ways. – Ed Hill, SVP of Beatport’s Media Group

By offering early access to supplementary features like unreleased music, cheap tickets, and access to international events and interactive experiences, these digital treasures will occasionally also turn into a fan interaction tool for artists and companies. On a technical level, the NFTs will be distributed via Aventus, a blockchain built on Polkadot that helps established enterprises deliver Web3 use cases from their wide suite of modular and composable products.

Many in the music industry are keen to discover ways in which Web3 can better support them. This initiative with Beatport and Aventus is a perfect example of the potential for Web3 to elevate the craft of artists. We’re excited to see this application of Polkadot’s technology to better connect artists directly with their fans and reignite the collectible aspect of music fandom that has largely been lost in the age of digital media. – Björn Wagner, CEO of Parity Technologies

The Polkadot parachain on which the NFT market will be based, Aventus, is founded and led by Alan Vey.

The Web3 revolution has opened wonderful new pathways for artists to recover sovereignty and engage with followers. In this market, there is a huge potential for artists to make the majority of the profit while giving fans access to a wide range of new material streams, building communities with unprecedented levels of loyalty. We are honored to take part in this crucial project for the music business. – Alan Vey

Beatport and Polkadot will work together on 10 significant events over the course of the following 18 months in addition to the launch of Beatport.io. Each event will mark the debut of a brand-new NFT line that is available through Polkadot-integrated wallets. The events will be produced by Beatport and will take place alongside major music and Web3 events.

The Beatport Group has dominated the DJ scene for almost 20 years. For everyone who knows electronic music, the company is well-known, with archives totaling more than 16 million recordings and connections to over 91,000 record labels.
