It’s December and 2020 is almost over; as every year Spotify has delivered the annual Wrapped, a report about the most streamed artists and songs of the year.

2020 has been a particular and unique year – during which we have been physically separated for a long time, but nevertheless, we have found new ways to be together, united as a real community. Before officially closing the year, we want to take the time to pay homage to the artists and creators who, with their music and podcasts, have allowed us to experience a better year that we will surely remember for a long time. Spotify’s Wrapped 2020 is here for just that.

Today Spotify unveils the artists, albums, songs, playlists, and podcasts that defined 2020 and that the platform’s 320 million users around the world listened to the most during the year. Whether it was to keep informed, to sing together, or simply to have fun, people have always been able to count on the support of audio and artists have not stopped “creating”.

  • With more than 8.3 billion streams, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is the most listened to artist on Spotify in 2020. Drake in second place and J Balvin in third complete the podium, followed by Juice WRLD, American rapper who died in 2019, and The Weeknd .
  • The reign of Billie Eilish among Spotify female artists continues, in first place for the second consecutive year, followed by Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, in second and third position respectively. In fourth place, we find Dua Lipa and in fifth Halsey.

  • The song with the most streams on Spotify in 2020, with over 1.6 billion streams, is “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd. In second and third place we find: “Dance Monkey” by Tones And I and “The Box” by Roddy Ricch. Completing the top five are Imanbek and SAINt JHN with “Roses – Imanbek Remix” and Dua Lipa with “Don’t Start Now.”
  • The 2020 album on Spotify is Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, with more than 3.3 billion streams, followed by The Weeknd’s After Hours and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding. In fourth place Fine Line by Harry Styles’ and Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa.
  • The most popular editorial playlist on Spotify in 2020, with over 27 million followers, is Today’s Top Hits.

  • The Joe Rogan Experience is the most popular podcast on Spotify globally. In second and third place, respectively, TED Talks Daily and The Daily, demonstrating the fact that listeners continued to listen to content to stay informed. Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s podcast, The Michelle Obama Podcast, is the fourth most listened to podcast in the world on Spotify, followed by the Call Her Daddy podcast.
  • The most popular podcast genres of 2020 on Spotify are Society & Culture, followed by Comedy and Lifestyle & Health. Complement the global top five Arts & Entertainment and Education.
