Wolfgang Gartner drops new tune featuring custom trained AI voice models

Wolfgang Gartner integrated AI-generated vocals in “Automatic,” his latest release with Dim Mak Records. By training AI models with various singers as examples, he pioneers the use of synthetic voices

Wolfgang Gartner, a famous DJ and producer, is getting ready for his second release with Dim Mak Records. The label releases his latest track, “Automatic,” which mixes electro-funk and drum and bass in a smooth way. But, there’s a twist. The vocal is generated by a custom trained AI model.

Wolfgang Gartner is always one step ahead of the rest. He is seen as a pioneer in many areas of dance music. This single’s release shows that the producer taught AI models how to make a synthetic voice by using different singers as examples. This created the sound for “Automatic.” Wolfgang thinks AI is a great way to improve his production because it can be used in so many ways. He has spent a lot of time getting better at manipulating AI. It is a production skill that will be used a lot more in the future.

This one represents new territory for me across the board. It’s my first DnB track in over 25 years and will be the first one I release, after rekindling my love for the genre last year, I’ve been compelled to spend a fair amount of my studio time in the jungle. The 3 rapverses on the song were written & rapped by me then morphed into 3 custom trained AI voice models, using two different speech-to-speech resynthesis applications designed for voiceover work and video game audio. – Wolfgang Gartner

For more than 23 years, the Grammy-nominated DJ has been an important part of the dance world. Eight of Wolfgang Gartner’s tracks have been #1 on the Beatport Top 10 Chart. They have been released on Ultra, Sony Music, Mau5trap, and Altlantic. In 2009, his single “Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony” was the best-selling song on Beatport.

Wolfgang’s first full-length record, “Weekend in America,” came out in 2011. With guest vocals from Eve, Omarion, Jim Jones & Cam’ron, and will.i.am. Wolfgang has worked with a lot of big names in the music business, including deadmau5, Skrillex, and Tiesto. These collaborations have helped him get to play at some of the biggest music events in the world, like Tomorrowland, Coachella, EDC, Ultra Music Festival, and Creamfields.

Because he mixes Electro and Progressive House in a way that no one else does, Wolfgang’s songs are some of the most played and synced.
