This summer sees Lisbon-based producer Aiiso return to the label with two enchanting singles previously heard on Anjunadeep 10, ‘City Lights / Programmer’.
Building on his memorable 2017 EP ‘Your Love Is An Echo’, which saw support from BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart, as well as Moon Boots, Lane 8, and Martin Roth, ‘City Lights / Programmer’ sees Aiiso conjure cinematic soundscapes with booming basslines and emphatic drum-lines.
‘City Lights’ opens the EP in an elegant and extremely atmospheric way: the main task is entrusted to the delicate piano melody, which is accompanied by spacey atmos that create an incredible feeling, something similar to what you can experience when admiring a Northern wildlife panorama. The bassline kicks in just at the peak of the ecstasy, bringing you back to reality.
B-side ‘Programmer’, on the other hand, is a bit more suitable for club play, but still incorporates some of the elements we found in the opening track; the focus, however, is on a tremendous bassline, paired with a deep back vocal. The beloved piano returns in the breakdown, together with the atmospheric feeling of loneliness.
