The duo known as 404.zero stands apart with their latest album, ISOTRP. Kristina and Aleksandr, the A/V architects and toolmakers behind 404.zero, have woven a captivating tapestry of generative art and music that transcends the boundaries of conventional expression.

ISOTRP is not just an album; it’s an invitation to explore the depths of your own consciousness, a journey into the realms of the unknown, and a testament to the power of music and light in revealing our most essential human qualities.

The Quest for the Sublime: 404.zero

In their own words, 404.zero’s aim with ISOTRP is not to burden the listener with their ego but to unearth something greater within each of us. They believe that music and light have the potential to reveal the most profound aspects of the human spirit. It’s a belief born from their own experiences, as they’ve navigated the darkest moments of despair and disappointment with music as their guiding light.

Their philosophy invites us to seek solace not in external explanations but within ourselves. It’s an urging to delve deep into the uncharted territory of our own consciousness and explore the substance of our unique, individual experiences. ISOTRP, as an album, serves as a vessel for this introspection, a sonic and visual journey that encourages us to find our way home, not to the physical place where our relatives reside, but to the spiritual home where our true selves dwell.

The Artistry of 404.zero

To truly appreciate ISOTRP and the artistic vision of 404.zero, it’s essential to understand the duo’s background and their creative process. Kristina and Aleksandr are not your typical musicians or visual artists; they are architects and toolmakers in the world of generative art. Their creations are a fusion of mathematics, coding, and the science of sound, and they are produced exclusively through coding and modular gear.

404.zero’s work defies the boundaries of traditional artistic expression. They use their irrepressible fascination with death, the unknown, and the cosmos as their creative fuel. Their code art is precise, painterly, and highly speculative, addressing profound philosophical questions while providing mesmerizing yet enigmatic answers.

A Journey into the Unknown

Since their chance meeting at Moscow’s Mars Contemporary Art Centre in 2016, Kristina and Aleksandr have embarked on a collaborative journey that challenges the limits of what’s possible in the realms of modular music, generative visuals, and media production tools. Their work has been showcased at international festivals and exhibitions across the globe, from Dark Mofo and MUTEK to LACMA and the Moscow Planetarium.

One of their most notable installations, “Thin Air,” took the London art scene by storm. Part of The Beams‘ cavernous Royal Docks space, the show featured work from seven global contemporary artists and collectives that melded art and technology. “Thin Air” used light, atmospherics, sound, and experimental new media to create an immersive experience that immersed visitors directly into the artworks, challenging them with high-intensity moments and moments of profound stillness.

As the final date of the exhibition approached, Londoners had only a few precious days left to immerse themselves in the ethereal light and sound installations. This exhibition was yet another testament to 404.zero’s ability to transport audiences into uncharted realms of artistic expression.
