DJ Tiësto announced he would not be playing at the Super Bowl LVIII pregame show because of an unexpected family emergency. In a touching tweet, Tiësto explained the hard choice:

For months, my team and I have been working on something really special, but I have to go back home on Sunday morning because of a family emergency. I felt bad having to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thanks to the NFL for working with us, and we look forward to doing something great together again in the future!

Portions of the performance on Feb. 11, 2024, would have been featured on the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast on CBS and live-streamed on the artist’s social channels.

The NFL first started scheduling the warmup DJ set at Super Bowl LIV in Miami. It happens before the game when the players come out to warm up. Tiësto would have been the first artist to play the whole game, including the warm-ups. This is the fifth year that a DJ has played during player warm-ups. In the past few years, DJ Khaled has played in Miami, D-Nice in Tampa Bay, Zedd in Los Angeles, and most recently, DJ Snake in Phoenix.
