Anjunadeep welcomes the return of Nikola Melnikov & Max Sorokin with their Sphinx EP. An established composer and pianist, Melnikov’s refined compositions have seen him perform around the world, including shows at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Stockholm City Hall, and Moscow’s Red Square. A talented producer out of St Petersburg, Sorokin burst onto the scene with this year’s ‘Sun Wakes Up Earlier Than All / Pandawa’.
The Russian duo’s latest affirms their ability to blend instrumentation and deep melodic grooves. Title track Sphinx drives forward with side-chained textural rhythms, whilst Gods Of Hall sways between a breakdown of strings and beautiful arpeggios. Final track Zosmo showcases Melnikov’s supreme talent on the keys and further demonstrates why the duo has garnered support from the likes of Lane 8, Ben Böhmer, Eelke Kleijn, and Eli & Fur.
The duo, to celebrate the release of such a massive EP, has released in collaboration with the label, SIGNATURA & -.618, CULT production, and more a special live set in the middle of the stunning salt flats of Lake Elton, Russia.
