Our take on RÜFÜS DU SOL new single “Music is Better”

Grammy Award-Winning Electronic Band Rüfüs Du Sol Release Highly Anticipated, Euphoric New Single "Music Is Better"

RÜFÜS DU SOL new single "Music is Better"

RÜFÜS DU SOL, a Grammy-winning live electronic trio, are back today with the release of their long-awaited new song “Music is Better” via Rose Avenue/Warner.

The group played the song for the first time during their headline DJ set at Coachella earlier this year. This is RÜFÜS DU SOL’s first new music since Surrender, their Grammy-nominated record from 2021. The long-awaited single captures the hope, closeness, and connection themes that have long defined RÜFÜS world while showing off a sound that is bigger and better than ever before.

Music is Better” shows a new creative groove for the band, one in which they make art from the present moment and enjoy the process, continuing to make art that combines organic and computer sounds. The single adds to a collection of songs that have been the soundtrack to a generation of music fans’ worst times, from breakups to romance, happiness, and sadness.

Our take on the tune

The themes of hope, intimacy, and connection resonate with me deeply – it’s why I’ve always been drawn to their music. There’s something about the way they blend these universal human experiences with their lush, atmospheric production that just hits differently.

I appreciate that they’re focusing on creating “from the now” and enjoying the process. As a listener, I often feel that sense of immediacy and joy in their tracks, and it makes the experience all the more immersive.

The story

In the three years since Surrender came out, RÜFÜS DU SOL won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for the lead song “Alive.”

The next year, they were nominated twice for Best Dance/Electronic Album and won their fifth ARIA award in Australia.

The band played at festivals all over the world, including in Europe and South America. They also brought Surrender to famous North American sites like New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Los Angeles’s Hollywood Bow.

The band also started the small Sundream Festival, which took place for the second time in San José del Cabo in 2022.3.

So far this year, Jon George and James Hunt have played DJ sets at Coachella and an unexpected pop-up at Lightning in a Bottle to get people interested in the band. “Music is Better” comes out before RUÈFÜS DU SOL’s only live show of the year, which is on September 2 at the Portola Festival in San Francisco as the main act.
