Matroda Unites With Dino DZ on ‘Saturday Love’

In “Saturday Love,” the upcoming song from Insomniac Records, Matroda teams up with up-and-coming house musician Dino DZ.

The chart-topping superstar and musically educated musician Matroda from Croatia created the phrase “matrodasound” to give himself creative freedom to make powerful grooves that drew influence from disco, house, R&B, classic rock, and other genres. He dug through the vaults of 1980s soul music for his upcoming release on Insomniac Records, “Saturday Love,” and collaborated on the heavy tech house track with Slovenian producer Dino DZ.

The track is anchored to an interpolation of a timeless vocal snippet culled from Cherelle and Alexander O’Neal’s gold-certified hit of the same name, whose enamored R&B chorus tallied up the time spent consumed by the thought of that someone special. The looping hook, which is now a male-female duet, works in unison with the track’s pounding rhythms, hefty basslines, and volleying synth plucks to make it crystal obvious that love is the only thing on the mind.

I produced the song during my off days I spent in Florida. Felt really inspired listening to a lot of ‘80s soul music at that time. Always trying to create something new and a bit different sound-wise. – Matroda

Dino DZ, who was born and raised in Maribor’s scenic woods, has become well-known for his funky, body-moving house music, including “Damn Phones,” “People Sayin’ (Get Up),” and “House Healed Me.” The young Slovenian musician is drawn to catchy voices and vintage influences, both of which are present in his latest collaboration.

By the end of April, he will do his first headlining performance at the venerable Hollywood Palladium.
