With this incredible compilation, Defected Records welcomes house and UKG legend, Todd Edwards, into the prestigious list of House Masters, charting an influential career spanning over three decades. This 42-track collection includes classics from Todd’s discography as well as newer hits from the New Jersey native, many of which have been fully remastered by Defected since acquiring his catalog in 2020.

Many of the artists that have inspired my music are part of the House Masters series. I’m so honoured and thankful to be joining them. – Todd Edwards

Todd’s influence on a scene 6,000 miles away is credited to his truly unique sonic aesthetic. He is often credited as one of the founding fathers of UK Garage. Todd purposefully created an entirely new sound by manipulating chopped-up samples and using vocal clips as instruments within his productions, as well as time and pitch shifts, thanks to the early studio equipment he had at his disposal at the time. In the burgeoning garage scene of the 1990s, his signature sound influenced key UKG artists such as DJ EZ and Matt Jam Lamont. Todd ‘The God’ Edwards earned Grammy nominations for his work with Daft Punk, contributing as a producer and vocalist on the albums Discovery and Random Access Memories. Along the way, he developed a cult following, with fans clamoring for his discography, which was largely unavailable digitally until Defected acquired it in 2020.
